PURITO Centella Green Level Unscented (REVIEW)

June 19, 2020
I'm gonna start this one with the ingredient list:

Water,Butylene Glycol, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Glycerin,Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate,Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Acrylates Copolymer, Silica,1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide,Dibutyl Adipate,Ethylhexyl Triazone,Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Cetearyl Olivate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Sorbitan Stearate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid, Asiatic Acid, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-di-t-butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Hyaluronic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol

Here's the ingredient that messed up:
Cetearyl Alcohol

Cetearyl Alcohol is considered a fatty alcohol which is supposed to be good for your skin. They make skin care thicker and supposed to be good for your skin. For me though, anything with the word alcohol should be a big NOPE for me but I thought I would give it a try.

Purito Centella Green Level Unscented
Purtio is a Korean brand but the name Purito comes from the word 'Purify' and the Chinese character that means soil. It is a clean brand that is cruelty free and vegan. For someone that owns rabbits, I always have to use cruelty free products.

The reason I used the unscented one is because, I have super sensitive skin. The scented one has lavender which is an essential oil and while it smells good, I don't want it on my face. It's SPF50+ PA++++ which is some good protection. You should always use sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF and 50 SPF should be the maximum.

After reading the amazing reviews, I had to buy it. It's formulated for people with sensitive skin types even though it is a chemical sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens tend to not have white cast if that is something that bothers you.

I should also talk about what Centella is. Centella is short for Centella Asiatica which is a herb. Centella has been used in tradtional medicine to treat minor wounds and other disorders. I should also state that using Centella topically can result in contact dermatitis and skin irritation. Contact dermatitis is in bold for a reason and I will share that later.

It comes in a squeeze tube type bottle and that makes me happy because I am scared of things I have to dip my fingers into. It was easy to not squeeze out too much and this is the amount I wanted to show, I used a bit more on my face later. My hands are SUPER dry and not the best representation but the after picture is what it looks like after trying to rub it in without too much effort. It has the littlest bit of a residue on my hand but as I said before, my hand is super dry.

When applied to my face, it looked great! No white cast and I didn't feel like I had sunscreen on my face until I started to get oily.
Before

After
It made my skin look a bit more refreshed and gave me that sunscreen glowly look at first. After I applied it, I felt this odd burning feeling right at the corner of my mouth, I did not think much of it and thought my lips were probably dry.

BUT NOPE!

After a week of using this sunscreen, I got a huge rash on the side of my mouth. It burned and I couldn't figure out why a rash had started until I stopped using the sunscreen. It didn't go away and got worse because I kept scrubbing it and doing stupid things. I also put makeup over the contact dermatitis which probably wasn't the best idea for any of it. Pimples had also started to show on my cheeks and I didn't take any photos of my face at this time cause I was super embarrassed. I finally got some anti-itch cream with aloe vera in it that made the contact dermatitis go away.

I was so excited for this sunscreen. It seemed great for sensitive skin but I knew the alcohol, good or bad wasn't gonna work well for my skin. I didn't want to throw it away so I gave it to my boyfriend who seems to not mind it. He doesn't like the feeling of sunscreen on his face and this one felt like nothing. He also has tan skin and I did not notice any sort of white cast on his face.

I really did like how it felt and the whole message behind the brand but I have never gotten a rash on the outside of my mouth. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin. If you don't have sensitive skin, go for it!
