Traveling As A Teen
Saving Money

Many teens today want to start traveling either that be on a small road trip with friends or leaving the country. The main problem for teens and traveling is that it costs money to travel and teens are generally broke.

Here are 5 things you should do to save money for traveling as a teen.

1. KNOW YOUR EXPENSES
This might be obvious but if you are traveling to another state, you probably will not need as much money as you would if you went abroad. You can generally know the prices of the same items in other states or make a rough estimate. Traveling abroad will cost you triple the amount than traveling in the states. Knowing how much you have to spend and are willing to spend will be a great first step.

2. MAKE A PLAN
This goes with knowing your expenses. Making a plan for your entire trip a few months before or even a year will help you see what you have to do. Everything goes together in a simple outline of your next adventure. Having a plan will help you organize what needs to be done to get to your goal.

3. WORK FOR THE MONEY
This one is also painfully obvious. How else could a broke teen make money to travel if they did not work for it? Parents might not want to lend you 1,000 dollars for your plane ticket. Getting a part-time job will help you get more money to save. Doing odd jobs will help you get some extra cash to buy some souvenirs.

4. SAVINGS
I would hope most teens have a savings account with their bank. If you don't know what a savings account is, it's basically where you can deposit your money and put it into a special account that doesn't let you spend that money. You make can different plans with different banks but this is extremely helpful!

5. SPEND LESS MONEY
Saying to spend less money is easier said than done. It's hard to say no to a shopping trip with your friends or going out to eat during lunch break with your classmates. You don't have to say no but you need to prioritize what you need vs what you want. If there's a cheaper meal that you want, buy that one instead. Clothing stores have sales all the time so you should wait until you can get a good deal to save some cash.

Those are 5 ways you can save money to travel as a teenager! Some might be obvious but it never hurts to put it into a list. There are many more ways to save some money to share your tips below!
